I went to the design museum last Friday, to shoot lighting designer Arnold Chan’s portrait. Something I was looking forward to, I really liked what he did for a job (working with light…..doh) which is what photography is about, period. I felt like applying for a job right there and then as I loved his stuff a lot. Shooting his portrait was like a walk in the park, EZ.
I stayed for the entire duration of the talk where we saw about a hundred shots of his work which can be seen all around London, New York, Madrid and so on……. Loved every bit of it.

Sunday eve I saw Taint at the Purple Turtle where some sort of metal marathon was on (10 bands…..).
Taint headlined and after a quick chat with the lads and a super quick bandshot they played about 8 tracks where the first 2 sounded not so good, a result of just having had a line check, but the last 2/3 tracks sounded blinding, I mean it was excellent. Hopefully the lighting guy can pull his finger out a tad next time and press a few buttons as well, it was as static as Capricorns played with Neurosis at the Forum in Kentish Town.

Meanwhile I receieved copies of Reach mag, and I have no idea what happened at the printers as the pdf’s look exactly like my stuff yet the hard copy looks not so good at all, a huge dissapointment to me.
Then one of my monitors has stopped working so I need to await a replacement, add on a broken KVM switch and that means I am completely blind with my photo computer, so it’ll be a while till this is sorted accordingly.
I have started to work on all internal doors in my house, after being let down big time by someone who was supposed to do this instead, and I hope to finish all the cosmetics by the end of this coming weekend. The doors hang but need filling/rubbing down/painting and the doorknobs and locks need to be installed. So there’s tools everywhere (missus happy……;) ) and dustsheets covering almost everything upstairs and so on……..great!

I am working on the band galleries site and it is very time consuming still going through all the Apartment (David Caggiari & Co.) stuff, I have hundreds of shots to plough through bit tedious really, can think of quite a few other things I’d like to do instead. But once it’s done that’ ll be it. Plus like I said before there will be a lot of ‘new’ stuff added to it….

Furthermore I saw the AOP (that’s association of photographers for the layman) Awards yesterday and thought there were a few good images but a lot of dross as well, and it becomes more than evident that photoshopping an image impresses the jury a helluva lot more than the actual capture. A lot of images in many sections left a lot to be desired, yours truly entered in 2 cats and was thrown out in the first round. In hindsight I should have not submitted the bench coz 5 shots (the allowed maximum) did not do the series any justice, it’s strength lies in the double digits of shots not in single digits. Oh well…..

I am in the middle of putting a new gallery site together and sofar it only works in IE and on a pc, Mac peeps have probs viewing it, some coding matter which I have no clue off, of course….the whole thing makes me want to pull my hair out as I want to go and see peeps but without a website as backup things are going to be delayed. In the meantime I am also merging all band sites such as the Cat the Dog/Mexicolas/Capricorns/Apartment and Stateless ones into one, it’ll be neat but it means that I have to go through all those shots again and do whatever is needed, a very time consuming affair. It also means that there will be shots in those galleries that no one has seen before. I have just finsihed Cat the Dog and working on the Capricorns images. The Apartment stuff will take a week on its own as I have so many to go through…..once it’s all done it’ll be posted for sure and will be good to look at, but until then….blergh….

Meanwhile Jochen Maess has been so kind and devote some of his programming time and sorted a better version for lightbox on this box, if you scroll down to the color of night shots then you can see it enables you to click from image to image instead of closing the image and opening the next one. A helluva improvement view wise. Thanks very much Jochen!!!
