Last night was good fun @ The Design Museum where Alistair Lansley gave a presentation on St. Pancras International train station.
Alastair Lansley is the chief architect of the project and gave one of the slickest presentations you could imagine, the quality of the material was superb, although some of the shots had the sky photoshopped in, it was a little too obvious for a trained eye like mine but besides that it was yummy. Having been at the station in Jan. (when I came back at 2am from Brighton) and this past week twice I must say the place is a joy to go to. It ought to be serious competition to an airport whether it will be remains to be seen, simply as the Eurostar may travel to Brussels and Paris, but Scotland or Amsterdam or any other major European city is still out of bounds, only governments can be blamed for this.
I was particularly interested in the whole thing especially as I had shot at St. Panchras Chambers a few years back, and it is also where I know Michael Czerwinsky (the Design Museums event coordinator) from.
I had Alastair Lansley pose for a few minutes before the presentation and he is a nice guy, very easy to deal with.
Next week Vivienne Westwood.

Later on I caught a few snoggers near London Bridge while Terri and I went for a swift drink.

Yesterday I dropped my folios of at the Telegraph and today they’ll be at The Observer (love drop offs……….pffff) . After that I met up with Gerardo Demaio. I have known him for a good 12 years and besides gaining a shedload of weight not a lot has changed, still the same accent……
I had a look at the dummy issue of Ponytail magazine and for a first issue they did not do a bad job at all, it has a decent look all over, and some of the typos look nice. It’s just that I think my work doesn’t look very good in b&w.
The plan is to shoot 3/4 bands, Stateless, Mexicolas, and 2 more over the next few months (next mag isn’t out till Sept.). We’ll see.
Tomorrow at the Design Museum Alistair Lansley who designed St. Pancras International. And next week Vivienne Westwood.
The new website is being updated while I am typing this, the band galleries are there for starters. They still need work, Taint’s pix need sorting and above all the decriptions, which is a tedious job but once it’s there then that is that, so over the next week there will be add ons, but picture wise it’s all there.
Then I have to think about making the bio / copyright / client pages, design wise I don’t have a clue but I will try and come up with something….I can’t wait for this to be over. Three sites in 6/7 months but I must say this gallery system is well cool. Problem is there’s always a more cooler system around the corner but for now (read:2 years at least!!!) I will keep it at this.
The job for City Life Magazines fell through less ad space is being sold (housing market slump and whatnot) so…..we’ll see. Same goes for Mark Kebble, I should become a plumber instead……………….
Gonna shop with me books….
Here are the tears of Ponytail Mag, the magazine will be out next week.
I don’t know what to say about the lay-out, the spread went from 6 pages to 4 by some miracle, but it is love it or leave it.
I don’t like it much (nor does Andrew Newton) after having different expectations of the outcome………………….such as two thirds of the spread was done in color and has just been changed by the AD into b&w without ever asking me…..a new one on me for sure.

When I meet people while being out they mention they do read this drivel and they do think it’s funny too, funny that, I think it’s rather serious when people mess your stuff up without confering with me (in the end I still hold the copyright….).
Get this tho, I am not even typing 50% of the crap I encounter, if I were to write EVERYTHING down boy I would need a solicitor pronto
The new website is growing steadily, more buttons at the top and also the band galleries are being made (it will be a mirror of the current website). The desciptions for the band galleries will take ages, some of them are already 100 pix big so…….it’ll be a while until that’s done.
Altho there are some cool events @ the Design Museum coming up starting next week on Friday.
White Light Parade tomorrow, look forward seeing/shooting them at Waterrats, always a good sound in there.

Two pages need to be made still but I am confident enough for going live….
See the new website HERE
Got a call from Liam Gleeson who managed to art direct the Dan le Sac shot in such a good way he decided to pick up the blower and congratulate me on the shot, doesn’t happen often so kinda nice. All I need now is getting my 23 quid refunded from the lunch for the shoot in October and all is hunkey dorey
I have been working on yet another website and it’s almost done. This one is better in its own way, it invites the viewer to be more interactive by letting him decide what shot (s) (s)he wants to see. It will go live in about a week when I have designed a few more pages and then that’s it for me regarding bartolomy websites, been fingering about way too much doing this. I have to make a site for Tony Montana and there are a few others who have asked me to create something for them as well, time permitting.
Capricorns are playing a warm up gig at Crobar, if I am not working at Luton Airport then I might just show up and see how they have progressed. White Light Parade the same week at Waterrats. There is also an event of the Design Museum at Harrods with Roland Mouret, not sure if I am shooting this one…..

Yesterday; I am on the bus and at half 3 I get a call from Liam Gleeson of Notion if I can shoot Dan Le Sac in Kensington in an hour, I laugh out loud on the bus and explain I will need a lil’ longer than that. He also confides he likes the first shot of Christian Stadil better, after mumbling of doing something to him and the phone connection being rather bad he gets away with it……..and I make my way home to catch my camera bag.
The guys Pip and Dan of Dan Le Sac are on tour and this their only day off, so I make it for half 5, just off High St. Kensington and 15 minutes later the whole thing is done. They tend to rub their heads and pick their beards a lot, that is after them not asking to do any so called funny stuff, check their Myspace page and you know what I am talking about. It’s more of an instinct to go against all that as I think they dictate the shot….. Sam the Pr is all cool and the gang, he is a nice bloke and lets me get on with it. I spent 5 minutes looking for good spots to shoot, I weren’t too happy to shoot in this area with all this high street yahda yahda but I managed to find a nice corridor of the church across the tube station…

Gerardo Demaio of Ponytail magazine has asked me to come up with three band shoots for the September issue (Stateless are one of them). Something I look forward doing. The first issue with Cat The Dog in it will be out in about 10 days.
Spoke to Jamie Evans on the phone, they are not going to record as they are moving studios as we speak and then they are of to the States for just over a week. I hope to see them exactly a month from now at the Give It A Name fest. @ Earls Court. A month later in June they will support Filter at the Islington Academy.

Here is another shot of Christian Stadil, Liam Gleeson the AD at Notion wanted an alternative….I still like the first one, it’s just a different mood, and it was what I originally intended to make.
Meanwhile I have been contacted and asked to supply Orsola De Castros’ shot for Marie Claire’s June issue and then there are some things in the making/planning….we’ll see
